Hypertufa - Building a Walkway Using Hypertufa Recipe

By Jamie Boyle

Looking for a cool looking walkway this summer? Try build a walkway using hypertufa. My brother did that this last summer at his home. He made a complete walkway using a simple hypertufa recipe. It was hard work building the forms for the individual blocks and mixing up the hypertufa as well. Overall I personally think it was worth it. It looks great and saved him money in the process.

Check out the results and the look of his new hypertufa project:

So what do you think? How do you think his walkway turned out using a simple hypertufa recipe? Love to hear from you all.

I feel exhausted when I imagine the work that went into it! Was it worth it? Absolutely! If I could be guaranteed that I would end up with the same results, I'd be out there mixing up hypertufa right now!

I'm interested in knowing how long this type of walkway will last! Congratulations on a beautiful walkway!

I need a pathway strong enough for my husband to ride his motorcycle on - would hypertufa work? This walkway is truly beautiful and it's a more difficult project than I want to commit to, but something simpler of hypertufa would be do-able if it would work strength-wise. Also, with peat moss in it, is it possible to make a firpit from hypertufa? If not, can you think of any non-combustible replacement for the peat? Thanks.

It looks so rustic! I love the look of it! I wonder how it would be like with snow on it, also with shoveling it through the winter.

Thanks for sharing!

HI
what WAS THE RECIPE FOR THIS ?? I SAW WHERE YOU SHOULD USE CEMENT AS THE TOP HALF AND HYPERTUFA AS A BOTTOM FILLER DUE TO STRENGTH??
ITS Excellent job !!! Thanks again

This walkway looks great!!
How has it held up?
I am wanting to make some decorative pots for gifts. I found this site, to hopefully, find out if you can use glass marbles, stones, ect... to decorate hypertufa pots.
So,if you know, please share.
Or, if anyone reading this knows, let me know.
Tell your brother, I said, he did a great job!!

Take care
