I am glad you like them.

Yeah Ki had the same problem. The recipe we use works very well and have since used perlite and vermiculite in different hypertufa recipes. We like the vermiculite better now as we have made another pilar using vermiculite to see the difference between that one and one made with perlite.

The thing with vermiculite it almost gives it a sparkly effect. Looks great!

Yeah we just made some stepping stones the other day using a 1:3:3 ratio to try and lighten it up even more. I know we had one that cracked when we took it out of the mould but the others are looking ok but it's still soft. It's gonna take a while to harden and with such little portland cement we don't think it will be that strong, but time will tell. I'll update this blog with some more photos of hypertufa projects we've done.

BlueFox you should make some more for sure, use the recipe on my blog and you will have great results with hypertufa. I just wish that summer was here so I can start place some plants in our hypertufa pots to see what they really look like.

Thanks for stopping by and keep me informed on your hypertufa projects that you may do and your outcome.

Sincerely,

Jamie Boyle
Hypertufa Gardener

Need Water Plants For Your Pond
www.WaterPlantsForPonds.com

Jamie, I'm really impressed, and also motivated to...

Jamie, I'm really impressed, and also motivated to get going again on my hypertufa. What's nice about making things with hypertufa is that it's lightweight so it's easy to move around your yard and it's not as heavy as if you would of made one using just cement.

I know you can buy online cement moulds to make things but so far we've been building our own molds for our projects. I know most people use hypertufa to make small gardening pots and planters but you can try making big projects as well.

Something my brother really wants to do is build a huge fountain feature for his backyard which is like a 3 level fountain which is big about 4-5 feet in diameter at the base. We'll probably end up doing it but as of now we are just building smaller things as that fountain will have to be built outside as it will be extremely heavy and unable to move at that size.

Wow! has been the reaction we've been getting around here with the pilar. Many people around here where I live has been wanting a couple as well. I'm glad everyone likes what we have been doing.

Thanks for stopping by! I'll let you see these as we get these going and I'll post some new hypertufa photos.

Thanks again for commenting on my blogs and feel free to stop by anytime :)

So you think you'll ever try some hypertufa projects yourself Mike?

Sincerely,

Jamie Boyle
Hypertufa Gardener

Need Water Plants For Your Pond
www.WaterPlantsForPonds.com

Need Goldfish Care Information
www.GoldfishCareInformation.com

I found you on blotanical. It hasn't been long we've been doing this but were hooked now. We plan on building a birdhouse and water fountain here shortly with hypertufa.

The thing we noticed with making things with hypertufa, your hypertufa recipe needs to be just right or like you noticed it will crumble. I'm glad you gave it a try and it worked out better with your adjustment.

Thank you for your kind words! We've been getting quite a few comments on our hypertufa projects which is nice to hear. I know my brother has been in the process of designing some more pictures of things we would like to do and they look amazing. We will do some more projects here shortly.

Yes I have placed the hypertufa recipe on my blog for people to see at How To Make Hypertufa For our creations so far we used a 1 part each ratio but we are currently going to be tring a lighter hypertufa mix which is going to be 1 part cement and 3 parts aggregates. This will definitely make it lighter but will be more important to get the mixture done right. By adding more perlite or vermiculite will definitely lighten up our creations.

I'll update our results using a lightweight hypertufa mixture so everyone can see.

I would like to thank you again for commenting on my blog and feel free to stop by again anytime. I will do the same for you.

Do you think you'll try making some more hypertufa projects this summer?

Sincerely,

Jamie Boyle
Hypertufa Gardener

Wow, I'm impressed.
