Thanks! We really like ththe look it gives to the abbove ground pond with the nice hypertufa finish.

About the wood rotting, it hasn't yet at my parents house. It's been there for years now and still holding strong. Could it rot over time, probably. What people could do is use pressure treated wood, this would last a long time....

As for working time I would suggest working with hypertufa on a cool day and not too hot. If it's boiling out it would dry fast. After you build your pond, try to coat the pond with hypertufa on a cool day to give you extra time to shape it and make it look ancient.
